After years of working with young people, family systems specialist Kimberly McKenna married Doug, the father of three young adults.
“I have a heart for young adults, and I have three amazing stepkids--I was 22 when I became a stepchild myself. But even with all my background and experience, I was surprised by what it takes to be a positive presence in the lives of young adults.”
Which is why she launched www.evilstepmom.org to help stepfamilies with young adults thrive.
With her experience as an internal organization development consultant at Microsoft, postgraduate work at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family at Georgetown, and research in John Gottman’s “love lab” at the University of Washington, Kimberly finds herself working with corporate executives in the morning, staff at the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs in the afternoon, and couples on the weekend. In 2007, the Boys and Girls’ Clubs of King County named Kimberly (along with Doug) “Volunteer of the Year”. “I’m all about helping people at every level discover how they can make a positive difference, right where they stand.”
